The Bernal Hill Players is a chamber music ensemble from San Francisco whose members play clarinet, flute, voice, piano, cello and percussion. Their fascinatingly diverse repertoire includes classical and contemporary chamber music from around the world, as well newly composed works by Californian composers and from Mexico City.
This gleefully eclectic program includes pieces in classical contemporary, rock, and folk-inspired styles, with works by Gabriela Ortiz, Silvestre Revueltas, Carlos Santana, Erik Pearson, Eduardo Gamboa, and Chus Alonso. Their performance is accompanied by slides of both cities by photographers Jerónimo García Naranjo and Anastasia Kuba.
Album San Francisco: In and about the City performs music of Bay Area composers. Currently, ensemble is recording a CD of music by Mexican composers.
