Julieta Venegas was born in Tijuana, Baja California. When she was 22, moved to Mexico City and met Fratta from Café Tacvba, who helped her put together her career. In 1995, Julieta started recording her first solo album entitled Aquí where participated several prominent musician groups such as Café Tacvba, Botellita de Jerez and Santa Sabina.

        From 1999, Julieta Venegas has participated in several major international festivals. She has also composed several soundtraks for the films En el país de no pasa nada, Amores perros, Asesino en serio, María llena eres de gracia and, Subterra.

        In 2001, she was nominated for two Latin Grammys, in the Best Rock Song ("Hoy no quiero"), and Best Rock Album (Bueninvento) categories. 


         In September 2009, she was appointed Ambassador for UNICEF in Mexico. In 2015 she returns to the music scene with a new album Algo sucede and a concert tour throughout the Latin America and Europe.
